about writing lessons

The first thing we'll do is have a chemistry meeting, to find out if we can work together. You'll tell me what you want to work on, I'll tell you how I think it would be good to start. If this goes well, we'll work out the terms of the engagement.

Next, we'll set up a schedule of sessions — for as often and for as long a period as seems best to both of us.

We'll also talk about what you're reading and how you do your work — as well as the pleasures, the perils, and the point of the writing life.
